Apollo Grow Tent Review: How Solid Are These Tents?

Apollo Grow Tent Review

Contents

When it comes to buying a grow tent it can be a little overwhelming for indoor gardeners because of how many different manufacturers, sizes, features are available. So I’ve taken the time to write this review in order to present one of the best built and low-cost tents on the market and help you figure out how to choose the best grow tent for your indoor garden.

In today’s review, I’m going to take a look at Apollo’s Grow Tents. Apollo as a brand is mainly known as an introductory grow light manufacturer, but in the past few years they’ve also grown into one of the leading low-cost grow tent manufacturers in the market. And their market presence has become so big that they deserve a detailed review for readers of Epic Gardening!

To make it easier on readers who don’t have enough time, I’ve included a comparison table in this review towards the end. But if you’re interested in knowing the most important ins and outs of Apollo grow tents, keep on reading!

Apollo Grow Tent Features

Let’s start off by taking a look at Apollo’s features when it comes to tents. Here’s a description of their highlights in their own words:

Durability: Metal frame poles keep your tent secure, and the tent’s thick fabric and quality double stitching prevent any unwanted outside exposure.

Protection: Heavy-duty metal zippers protect your home, safeguard your grow, and offer you easy accessibility to your indoor grown plants.

Efficiency: Each tent is lined with 100% light-proof and tear-proof reflective Mylar film, which returns up to 92-97% of your grow light bulbs’ light back to your plants and herbs. Increase your grow’s efficiency without adding to your energy bill!

90-day Warranty: Apollo Horticulture is dedicated to providing quality products backed by unbeatable service in order to give our customers the complete package that they deserve.

Apollo prides themselves in offering durability, protection, efficiency and a decent warranty. So let’s analyze their claims and see what comes up.

Durability & Design

All Apollo grow tents are basically built the same way. Usually they vary in door location, vent numbers and other minor changes needed to accommodate for a different sized tent.

A close-up of the zippers and fabric quality.

Even so, they all use the same 400D thick light proof fabric, reflective material, double stitching for safety, and sturdy metal support poles. The zippers on these tents are supper sturdy and never seen to get stuck like other low cost grow tents I’ve tried.

This all makes for a reliable tent that’s definitely not going to break the bank, and will provide you with the grow space you need.

Efficiency

The combination of light proof fabric and Mylar film that reflects up to 97% of all the light from your grow light, guarantees that your photons stay where you want them: inside your grow tent.

All Apollo grow tents are made with the same fabric, which is strong enough to prevent most tears or breaks with proper care. This means no light leaks and a stable grow space so you can grow all year long.

Safety

Good look at the flood tray that comes standard with all Apollo tents.

Running an indoor garden, whether hydroponically or soil-based, always comes with certain safety concerns, which are mostly related to the electricity needed to power the grow lights, fans, pumps, and other equipment.

All Apollo grow tents come with a removable mylar-lined floor tray with velcro straps that you can wrap around the poles, and will keep your floor clean and your electrical cables away from any conductive water around your grow room in case a water spill happens.

On another note, the metal poles designed to hold the grow lights have the capacity of holding up to 120 pounds of weight. This is definitely enough to hold up any grow light setup without compromising the safety of your plants. And you can be sure your grow tent will be tight and sturdy! This is a major gripe of mine on the cheaper grow tents, so it’s nice to see that Apollo actually put some quality into their tent poles.

Build Quality

As mentioned before, almost all of their grow tents are designed and built the same way, with only minor changes. And when you consider their prices, Apollo truly offers a good deal when it comes to grow tents.

Top-of-the-line grow tents like Gorilla (check my Gorilla Grow Tent review here) are definitely full of extra features, but they come at a much higher cost. And usually end up costing twice as much (and even more) than introductory tents like Apollo’s.

Apollo also has the most common sense I’ve seen in any low cost tent manufacturer when it comes to the placement of doors and ventilation ports. In all of their tent presentations they display the complete wireframe design of their tents and you can see they actually spent some time figuring out the best possible placement of all the ports in order to be a truly useful tent for all growers.

They’re also tall enough (at least 5 feet tall on the smallest models) to accommodate a variety of plants that grow to different heights or need more distance from the grow lights.

Ease of Assembly and Use

Although you can definitely use some help if you don’t like working alone, anybody can assemble an Apollo grow tent! As soon as you open the package you’ll find an instructional booklet with all the steps necessary for assembly. And you’ll be pleasantly surprised when it only takes you a few minutes to set up your grow tent, rather than hours.

Warranty

Being an introductory market brand, Apollo backs all their products (including the grow tents) with a 90 day warranty and 30 day money back guarantee. Which should be enough time to try their products and see for yourself if you’re happily satisfied!

Apollo Grow Tent Comparison Table

Small Tents

If you’re a small-scale grower and want to get up and running in a cost-effective way, the 2′ x 4′ tent is your best option. It plays nicely with most lighting setups and you can grow a huge volume of plants in an 8 sq. ft. footprint.

Large Tents

For larger-scale growers who want a lot of room to grow at low cost, my picks are either the 4′ x 4′ or the 8′ x 4′ tent.
